I had never considered becoming an artist until after retiring from a career in public libraries and moving to Ocean Springs. I took Debra Baldinger’s free charcoal drawing class at the Ocean Springs library and loved it. I signed up for Debra’s drawing classes and found I had a gift and a passion for painting animals.
I have taken inspiration for my animals and my landscapes from the places I’ve lived – Iowa, South Dakota, Washington state, and the Gulf Coast – as well as from the many places where I’ve traveled.
I especially like drawing in graphite and colored pencil, but I’m now exploring the fabulous colors pastel sticks, pans and pencils offer to my artwork.
